topping because I'm anxious for other Italy lovers to see them...

Great photos Sandi! I especially liked your family photo in Venice with the gondolas in the background; and the one from your balcony hotel. My friend Dawn and I will be staying at Leon Bianco and would love to hear your comments about it. Our room will be facing the side small canal.
|
PS: I'd like to hear about Hotel Fortezza too.

Hi sandi! Thank you for posting your pictures and for the trip down memory-lane. Loved the picture in which the nuns are feeding the pigeons in St. Mark's. We also have similar pictures from the balcony at Locanda Leon Bianco in Venice. Nice view!

Regards,
Mariarosa

HI Sandi--Great pictures. Looks like you and your family had a wonderful trip. I especially liked your pix of Verona. I think I'm going to have to add it to my list of must-see towns in Italy. Also, thanks for the heads-up re Imagestation.com. Didn't know such a site existed!

Patti

Monica,

La Fortezza, in Assisi, is a 2 star hotel just off Piazza del Comune..steps from Basilica of Santa Chiara. Since there were 3 of us, we got a huge room with a full bath for $60. (US) a night. No breakfast inclu. The rooms were sparse but clean. The staff does not speak much English, but we all managed. At the bottom of all those steps, that lead from the hotel to the Piazza, is a lttle cafe with coffee and pasteries. It was a good location, and a good deal.

Sandi -
Wonderful photos! Thanks for sharing. What speed film did you use inside the museums ... since one can't use flash. I've tried on previous visits with not much luck, usually using 400ASA.
And thanks for introducing us to that website!
|
KatieJo - I believe I either used 200 or 400 ASA. I really like that website..can't beat free unlimited web space. Their servers can be slow at times even when connecting to them at work, on a T1.

Very nice, Sandi. You have a good eye for visualizing uncluttered pictures.

The picture of Dietricht (sp?) looking at the canals upon arrival to Venice was beautiful and touching. What a moment to capture on a picture. Priceless.

Gorgeous pictures. All of them. Thank you for posting.
|
Maybe I'm an idiot, but do you have to join imagestation.com to see your pictures Sandi? I don't seem to be getting anywhere.
|
Thanks for sharing - great pictures.

Hi Sandi,

One last question about Fortezza. Is there parking at the hotel? If not, is there a parking lot nearby and if so, what did you pay? Thanks!
|
Dale, you should be able to highlight the link and paste it into the address area of your browser and it'll take you directly to my album. Also, I have to give credit to my husband who took most of the stills while I "manned" the video camera.
|
Monica,

They will allow you to enter the city in your car for a few minutes, to unload your luggage then you have to exit and go to the parking lots just outside the walls. If you go to their webiste at: http://www.lafortezzahotel.com/

there's a map which shows you what gate to enter and where the nearest parking is. I don't recall the cost.
