Italy-late Oct. - weather?

I am thinking of visiting Italy for a week from Oct 28 to Nov 4. Maybe Rome & Sorrento. Or Tuscany and, perhaps, Venice.

How is the weather that time of year? My time is shorter than I would like. Any suggested itineraries?

Although I haven't traveled to Italy in October yet (I will this year though), I know there is the Venice aqua alta which occurs in October so that may not be a good time to go there. As for Tuscany, Rome, and Sorrento the weather should still be more or less dry and pleasant.

Hi wood, my experience with the Veneto region which includes Venice a lot of rain, thunder and electrical storms. The only strange thing is the only time I experienced the aqua alta in Venice was one May..a very rainy May.

I too would visit Tuscany and Rome, especially with the dates you give for your travel time. You wouldn't have time to see all of the places anyway so staying futher south would be best weatherwise. Do have a lovely trip.

Thanks for the feedback on the weather. I'll probably try Rome and Sorrento as I've been to Venice twice and spent about 2 weeks in Tuscany a few years ago, but have only visited Rome for a couple of nights with a day trip to Pompeii.

Rome and Sorrento sounds lovely woodstockguy..good decision IMHO.
