Italy: June or July
Hello: I am planning a trip to Italy - Rome, Naples and the Amalfi Coast. At this point I have the flexibility to travel in either June or July. I get the impression that July really starts to see heavy tourist traffic - is the same true in June?
Also, curious if June has about the same weather as July ( as if any of us can really predict the weather from year to year )? Thanks much for any comments. |
Hi ljyoung. I personally would recommend June for Rome and Naples. The Amalfi Coast would be alright in July. But as you said, who can predict the weather anymore. Where I live we have had temps in the high 70's and are now being told that we will have rain tomorrow and some areas will have thunder and hail.
If I were you I would plan to go to Italy in June. July does get heavy with tourist and also you can get humidity which adds to the uncomfortable heat. Hope this is accurate for you, but who knows with our weather patterns these days. BTW, I would visit Rome first, then Naples and then the Amalfi Coast in that order if possible. Again, because of weather. Have fun! |
Everything else being equal, I would definitely visit in June rather than July. Probably less tourist traffic and definitely cooler weather. July can be quite hot in Italy.

I go with June.

I thought, for all of the reasons stated, that June would get the nod.
Also, it is my hope to do the routing of Rome to Naples to the Amalfi Coast. Thanks for the feedback........... |
