Italy Itinerary:Help Me

I am still fidgeting over my itinerary. We leave the end of March! Yes, I currently have everything nailed down (reservations) but am considering making changes to our 11 days (in one spot) between Venice and Rome.

So, 3 nights in Venice then:

3 nights in Lucca ( daytrip to Lerici)
3 nights San Gimingnano(daytrip Florence)
5 nights Pienza

Turn in car and train to Rome (4 nights) from Chiusi

OR:

5-nights S. Gimingnano
(daytrip to Lucca/Florence)
6-nights Pienza

OR: we could just do one week in Tuscany
with one day trip to Florence, then
drive to Sorrento for 4 days. We would
visit as far north as Siena, day trip
to Florence by train, but NOT visit
S. Gimingnano or Lucca. Just visit
surrounding areas of Pienza. My DH really wants to spend least amount of time in Florence, he has been before. All our accomodations will be apartments with kitchen, have kids, can't afford 2 hotel rooms, can't handle quad setup/ have a teen.
What do you think? Have you done one of these itineraries?
Thanks,
Tiller

I like the first plan, but just to confuse you some more, I would take 1 day from Lucca and add it to Venice and take 1 day from San Gimignano and add it to Rome, especially if you haven't been to those two before. :-d
Maybe you can't do that due to your current reservations.

I stayed in Pienza in Sept and loved it!

Thanks Susan!

Think we will keep our Venice and Rome
dates as is, they are both the most expensive, appreciate your input!

I like your first plan too. While in Pienza, day trip to Siena.

Hi Tiller,

I like your first plan the best and I agree with Susan on the small re-distribution of your days if possible. I think your kids will find more to do and enjoy in Venice and Rome than the Tuscan countryside.

Buon viaggio!
