Italy itinerary help

Ok I am all confused on my number of days. The plan was fly to Milan (3 days) then to CT (3 days) on to Florence (2 days - pick up daughter-been before) and then to Rome to catch a cruise. A buddy said 3 days in Milan and CT each to much. Thoughts? If too many then where, if at all?

What were your plans for the time in Milan? I could happily spend three days in Milan, but if you're only interested in the Duomo, the Last Supper and a couple of other sights, then a day and a half or two days would be more than enough. It's really your call.

What time of year? I don't think three days in CT is too long unless you're talking about January, February, etc.

Travel in middle of June. Yes to those attractions you listed but I have not been so I want to make the most of the time.

I'd do 2 full days Milan, 2 full days Cinque Terre and add these days to Florence. Four days in Florence gives you enough time to really absorb this marvelous city.

Hello Ironman, as one who loves Milan I would want three days. And since you have been to Florence before and are familar with this city I am sure you are planning properly. And if you want to take hikes while enjoy the CT I would think three days would be perfect for you. If you are not interested in hiking you could cut the time in the CT to two days and visit Lucca instead. But I like not changing hotels to much so your intinerary sounds good to me. And enjoy your time in Italy and also your cruise.

Hi I,

Are you staying in Rome after your cruise?

If not I would take a day each from Milan and the CT and use them for Rome.

PS,

Is there a reason you are not going to Venice?

Ironman Mar 27th, 2008 03:25 AM

Ira, Yes I have already been to Venice. I love it but would rather have a new experience. To others: during the staty in Milan, is two or three days more than enough or is it worth a day trip to Lake Como?

Jean Mar 27th, 2008 10:54 AM

A day trip to Lake Como will only provide you the chance to check it off your list. As much as I love Milan, I'd choose 3 days on Lake Como over 3 days in Milan.

BUT, if the 3 days in the CT is still on and you're cruising later, I'd stick with Milan.
