How do the number of days in each city look?

Also - Florence includes day trip to Pisa & Sorrento includes day trips to Capri and Pisa

Our flight is already booked - arrive Venice, leave Rome.

I guess you wrote an extra Pisa.

Looks pretty good. Personally, I'd pass on Pisa and put an extra day in Sorrento.

While many people just look upon Sorrento as a jump-off point, I'd leave a good part of a day for Sorrento.

If you're into Pompeii that's a good part of another day.

A day in Capri and then you may want to take the Amalfi Coast bus ride. That's another day.

It takes time to get back from Sorrento to Rome. You have to account for that in one of the days.

I've been to Sorrento twice and could go back again.

I think it the number of days in each city looks really good. Not too much rushing around and time to do day trips. Its nice that you have that many days. Can you tell us when you are going?

My only comments are:

I would rethink the day trip to Pisa and substitute day trips throughout Tuscany. In my opinion, Pisa is not a must see but Tuscany is a dream come true. Unless its an area you have always dreamed of seeing, I dont think Pisa is so great. If you do go, you may want to include Lucca as its on the way and it gets rave reviews. It all depends on what you like and why you want to see Pisa.

I also would suggest that while in Sorrento, your day trips include Positano/Ravello. Classically beautiful towns that are not to be missed. I think you may have meant Positano on your post in the paragraph regarding Sorrento (it says Pisa again) but just wanted to be sure.

Sounds like you will get a really good look at Italy and I wish it was me!

The second Pisa was supposed to be Pompeii - I've always wanted to go there.

I might skip Pisa - I've always thought it would be neat to see - but can you even climb to tower anymore?

Yes, you can climb the tower. The tower, cathedral, and bapistry are interesting and worth seeing--depending on your interests. It's in a very pretty campo. And how can you possibly convince people you've been to Italy without a picture of yourself holding the tower up?

We enjoyed the city of Pisa (I was there for a conference a few years ago). Not over touristed, pleasant walking, nice river. Once you get away from the carnival-like atmosphere immediately surrounding the tower campo, Pisa is a delightful university city.

I agree that you should see Siene before Pisa. But, if you decide to go to Pisa, also please go to Lucca. Also when in Sorrento try to got to Revello. there are ferries that will take you to Positano, Amalfi and then a bus to Ravello. Also you could hire a driver or rent a car for the day. Have a fabulous time.

Just my personal preferences here, but I too, would skip Pisa in favor of a little Tuscany.

I also would take a day from Florence and add it to Venice -- unless -- you plan to spend 2 days outside Florence seeing a little of Tuscany. In which case I would recommend staying somewhere in the lovely countryside.

Personally, I found Florence extremely noisy and crowded and was glad to leave after 2 nights.

This is just my two cents, but you should at least take a quick look at the tower and campo in Pisa. We used our shot of holding up the tower as our Xmas card. It is only a half day trip which you could combine with another stop. You have to at least see it once.

You plans sound great to me. Plus you can adjust as you go along.

Pisa is in Tuscany.

Looks like a nice trip. Would also consider a day in Siena while in Florence. Pisa requires about a half a day and as a cultural icon I suppose it is a quite reasonable destination from your stay in Florence.
