For the benefit of anyone who may be following this thread. Steve suggested flying Alpi Eagles from Naples to Venice. I checked their website and although they have a selection for English, nothing happened when I selected it. I followed as well as I could the instructions in Italian and came up with a message that indicated no flights available, even though they show routes from Naples to Venice. Maybe I did not try enough days.
However,on ORBITZ I found Alitalia has a direct flight, 1 hr. 20 min. at $252. Anybody know if there is another, cheaper alternative? I don't know how that compares to train, since as I posted elsewhere I couldn't find prices on trenitaliano.com

How do I find the prices? I got the various schedules, but when I clicked on prezza (which seemed to be the only choice) I did not get prices. And I could not find any other place with prices. Can you guide me??
