Italy is +9 from LA? PST...

I am getting myself confused and that is not very hard to do. Italy, Rome specifically, is nine hours later than Pacific Standard time? Dumb question, I know. Just trying to figure out what time it is right now for OD who just landed in Rome probably an hour ago. Thanks.

Si

Neopolitan Aug 2nd, 2006 08:02 AM

At 11:57 AM Wednesday in Pacific time it was 8:57 PM Wednesday in Rome.

Neopolitan Aug 2nd, 2006 08:04 AM

Duh, if that still confused you, I guess you were actually posting at 8:57 AM Pacific time. At that time it was 5:57 PM in Rome.

7 am + 9 = 4 pm
8 am + 9 = 5 pm
9 am + 9 = 6 pm

etc
etc
etc

Heavens, I can't tell you how much time I have spent counting on my fingers, trying to figure that out. :)

or if you want a really easy trick, just take the time on the west coast...exp... 10:10am...just put PM instead and than take off 3 hours... 7:10pm.....

Did I confuse you more? :)

Hi H,

>Rome specifically, is nine hours later than Pacific Standard time? <

Rome is 9 hr ahead of PST.

When it is midnight your time, it is already 09:00 in Rome.

Add 9 hours (going forward).

As Ed mentions above, I find counting on my fingers works best!
:-)

You all make me feel so good that I am not the only one who finds this confusing. And when you add in daylight savings and all that, it is hard to keep track.

Thanks all for not making me feel like a big dummy...

And then there are those 3 AM phone calls I get from the ones who have it backwards. . .

rex Aug 2nd, 2006 01:34 PM

Neither California nor Italy are currently observing "Standard" time. Both are observing Daylight (Savings) time. I'm not sure if any location in this hemisphere is currently observing Pacific Standard time.

Nevertheless, the 9 hours time difference between Italy and California is correct. It is presently 5:30 pm EDT in New York (thus, the time shown on this web site); 2:30 pm PDT in California, and 11:30 pm in Italy.

Best wishes,

Rex

Well, I sure hope she is in bed by now, and sleeping for a while. Their night last night was a very long one, probably the longest she has experienced. Nothing like a red eye to Europe to make you appreciate your hotel bed, no matter how non luxurious it might be...

Thanks again all.

I, too, just take away three hours and if it is day in CA make it night in Italy and vv. It is the easiest for me.
