Italy Internet Cafes: English Keyboards?

Hello Fodorites! When we were in France last year we looked for internet cafes that had English keyboards. If I recall correctly, they said "Querty" on them. Is there an Italian equivalent to this?

Thanks,
Bud

There are some differences but you can easily figure it out. Can't remember the specifics of what's different but it didn't stop me from being able to send emails.

I went into several internet sites while there and all the keyboards were the same. You just have to look around for the punctuation and @ keys because they aren't in the same places but, they're all there. Don't know about France but, the keyboards in Italy have three characters on some keys (@ being one of them). I think I used the Alt key to get the @ character.

Hi buddyboy--we struggled using the French keyboards until we discovered that English ones were available. However the main resource in the internet cafes are the great staff who all spoke English. I would just rely on asking them for any help you might need. I am sure the Italian staff will be just as adept in English as were the French.

You should be able to find a qwerty keyboard but the symbols might be different and/or in different locations. No $ symbol for example.

I found English keyboards in Florence, but not in Venice. They may exist, but I just didn't find one.

I agree that the difference never stopped me from sending emails. The punctuation keys were the main offenders, so I just avoided them and apologized in my emails.

QWERTY is the international name for this type of keyboard because of the key configuration.
