Our family travelled to Italy in December 06/January 07. Christmas in Rome was wonderful. Went to Sorrento and visted Pompeii, Mt Vesuvius and Capri. Weather was beautiful. My kids and husband even swam on the Amalfi Coast on December 30. (Note we are mad Aussies though so it might not be for everyone). I had been concerend about snow in Tuscany but it didn't happen - were there from New Years Eve until Jan 6. The weather was a little colder than further south but no problem still.

Here is a link to my trip report.
