Italy in July

We are 2 couples traveling to Italy in June or July. I know this is high season, but are there any deals at this time, both with air and hotels?

Hello!
My husband and I are going to Italy this June. Airfare is very expensive right now. We are traveling from the midwest to Florence. Airfare has been running around $1100 per person in most websites. The best so far that I've seen is in airlineconsolidator.com for about $727 each.
I've started booking hotels already. We were able to get 3 star hotels running for $100-130 per night.
Have a great trip!

We are going to Italy in early June and have found TravelTeam.com has the lowest fares we've seen. Hotels are a different story because June and July are their busiest times.

we found it easy to rent apartments in July. We found several apartments to rent for less than a week as is usual. Pricing on apartments is less than for hotels and you get a kitchen as well. You can do a search on Ask Jeeves or Google with the city you are visitiing and holiday rentals as the keywords. We ahve done this several times and have been happier with our results than with the hotels we have been in through our travel agent. We always send several emails to our prospective host before we send any money to get a feel for them.

Orbitz has strikingly lower fares than Travelocity for quite a lot of dates in both June and July. Might be worth your while to look into going to London - - and then using one of the many low-cost intra-Europe carriers to get you onward to Italy - - if the absolute cheapest way to fly is important to you.

Best wishes,

Rex
Gayle. I would like to ask you a question about the Travel Team site. I read your response and just checked. I need to go from PIT to FCO and the cheapest fare I have found on anything right now including Hotwire, Orbitz, and individual sites has been $775. I pulled up the fare on your site and low and behold it was $512 plus taxes. Can you give me a little information about how their booking works? Is it buy now and find out how you fly later? Thank you. You can e-mail me directly if you like.

Sherry, I found them through a link on the Rick Steves( the travel guru) website. They are a travel agency that will work with you to find you the very lowest airfare. I haven't found lower airfare anywhere. You don't book until you're ready - no strings. I have been very happy using them. Gaye
