Italy Hotels
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the following cities: Rome and Florence that are $200 US dollars or under for a September trip. I am also looking for any recommendations on a luxury hotel on the Amalfi Coast to end my trip, something on the water/beach if possible. This last leg of the trip is to celebrate our anniversary and I want it to be very special. Thanks to all of you for your help! I am now half way through booking my Paris/Italy trip! |
topping
|
Ira,
I don't understand your message, what does topping mean? Thanks. |
It means bringing your message at the top of the message list, so that it is more likely that someone is going to answer.
|
You will have to excuse my ignorance here, but how do I bring the message to the top of the board?
THanks. |
Any time someone posts a reply, even if it's only " ttt", your thread goes to the top.
|
Because otherwise, at the bottom, soon your post wouldn't be visible anymore. Not everybody wants to pull all the old posts to read them. It was meant to help making your post more "visible", increasing your chances of getting an answer.
|
At the top left of your screen where it says "Welcome Nicoleg," if you click on your screen name (nicoleg), it will bring your post up so you can see it.
The more often it's topped, the more replies you should have, but they still get lost pretty fast so you can find it by clicking your name. ((@)) |
Thanks everyone. Now back to the important stuff, can anyone recommend hotels based on my previous posting?
THanks. |
For the luxury portion I would recommend either Palazzo Sasso in Ravello or Santa caterina in Amalfi. Both are beautiful with topnotch service and food.
SC gives you a little better access to the rest of la costeria Amalifitana. Just like gelato, pick your flavor, they're both great. Buon viaggio!!!! |
In Florence, not a hotel but a very nice B&B at 150 Euro -
www.touristhouseghiberti.com Eurocheapo.com has a write-up, as well as customer feedback reviews on venere.com and tripadvisor.com. The pictures and descriptions on their website are proper representations, and the owners (Claudio & Christelle) are very service oriented. They'll help with reservations (in advance or when you arrive) for museums, restaurants, day-trip drivers, trains, etc. |
Oops - I forgot - Tourist House Ghiberti is located one block behind the Duomo.

Nicoleg;
We booked the Baltic Roma hotel in Rome for 100 euros a night for a deluxe double. We booked through venere.com Clea |
Dear Clea,
How would you rate the hotel in Rome? Also, did it offer you and your husband a private bath, and did it have an elevator? How close was the hotel to the sights in Rome? THanks again. |
Thanks mm41, my first choice was SC on the Amalfi coast and I now have to hope that it is available. I can't wait!!!
Thanks again for your suggestions. Nicole |
I recommend the Hotel Lancelot. It is a few blocks from the Forum. We stayed there in Sept. 2003 and loved it. We paid 150 euro/nite. It is a lovely hotel and they provide a great breakfast. The desk people were so nice and helpful. The rooms were very clean and each has it's own private bath. Comes with hair dryer. There are a few space (around 6) to park a car, but you must reserve a space when making reservations.
