Italy Hotel advice

My husband and I and our college daughter will be in Venice, Florence and Rome the end of May. It's a graduation celebration trip! We will be in each for 4 nights. Right now I am trying to settle on hotel reservations.
If anyone can give feedback on these hotels, please do!! We are trying to decide between: In Rome- BDB Hotel (a suite) in Trastevere or Hotel Portoghesi a superior suite with a terrace.

We reserved in Venice at Carnival Palace in Cannaregio and in Florence Hotel Plaza
Lucchesi (Family Suite). I realize that I may not be able to change our reservations at such a late date but would LOVE to know if anyone has experience with these hotels.

I will have itinerary questions next up!
