Italy Honeymoon Itinerary

Thanks to those who answered my other posts earlier and I am posting my itinerary in this new post because I have some new questions.

Our itinerary now goes like this:
Florence - 3 nights;
Montalcino/Pienza - 6 nights (wedding);
Venice - 4 nights;
Rome - 4 nights;
Positano - 5 nights.

We still have flexibility with which cities to fly into and out of but we have to decide them in a few days.

I was advised to do Positano after Venice and fly out of Rome (for the convenience of Rome's airport) but that would mean a long day travel from Venice to Positano. What are your thoughts? In either case, we have to connect through Paris.

Thanks.

Just an offhand suggestion: Venice is the outlier. If you switched Florence and Venice you would (almost) travel in a continuous SW line. Anyway it solves the "long day of travel" issue.

Thanks. Have to be in the Florence area for the presentation of documents in Montalcino on one day. And Venice is not negotiable for this trip.

I would end in Rome and fly home from there. I know there must be a reason why you are not starting in Venice, but that sure would be ideal. Have you checked the Florence connections?

Bob, I have checked the connections: it is possible to fly into Florence and out of Rome or Naples.

Why are your reasons for ending the trip in Rome, considering that I have to make the connection in Paris either way? Is the airport in Naples so miserable?

In that case, would you suggest flying or training from Venice to Naples?

Hi maxi,

No problem with leaving from Naples.

How areyou planning on getting from Rome to Positano?

We trained to Naples and had a driver take us from Naples to the AC and back.

I was assuming difficult logistics for a potential early flight from Naples--perhaps even an overnite in Naples. Given a driver at 100E that would not be a problem.

Thanks, ira.

Now that I checked more carefully, we do have some problems.

There are 2 flights per day by Air France from Naples to Paris. One departs at 12:30, arriving at 14:50; the other departs at 20:05, arriving at 22:25. Our international flight will depart at 23:15. I am wondering if there will be enough time for connection if we take the one at 20:05. Any experience?

But if we take the one at 12:30, it means 7 to 8 hours in the airport! And that would be very boring and tiring.

If we depart from Rome, there is a flight leaving at 19:35, arriving in Paris at 21:45. In that case, we only have to wait for 1.5 hours.

Ideas?

Thanks, ira.

In this case, we have already paid for our Air France tickets (which were supposed to be used this December but we cancelled our trip) and would like to make use of them.
