Italy + Greece + Croatia

Hello, there!
I'm starting to plan a trip for mid-May until as long as it takes to visit Italy, Greece and Croatia but I have no idea what is the easiest/cheapest way to go trough all three countries. From what I've researched so far, I think i would like to visit the following cities:

Italy - Venice, Florence, Naples (maybe Pompei and Capri) and Rome
Greece - Athens, Santorini and Los
Croatia - Zadar, Split (Hvar) (?)

I'm not very set on Croatia yet. I would really appreciate some tips of places that are worth visiting and how to move between the cities.

Thank you!

Be a bit more specific. All these places are amazing, but you can't visit all of them so you have to tell us your interests. Then we will choose what are the best destinations based on your interests. You prefer culture or nature, museums or beaches, food or activities. Also, how many days?

Ios (with an upper case i, not an L) will be very quiet in mid-May. If you are expecting to find a party scene you will be disappointed.

There can be some challenges travelling between Croatia and Greece. There are limited direct flights, especially outside of the summer period. And limited, if any, ferry services. You can go overland by bus but it will take some time. You can go via Italy by ferry or air. If you find that's changed recently (and it may have - it's a little while since I looked), do come back and let us know as it's a popular route that people ask about regularly.

Within Italy, train is the easiest form of transport, backed up by buses and ferries where necessary. Train tickets are cheaper if purchased in advance but lose flexibility. www.trenitalia.com is the website and use Italian spelling for place names. www.italotreno.it for alternative services.

Although you can fly to Santorini, nothing beats arriving by ferry. Ferry between Santorini and Ios.

South of Split, buses and ferries are the go.

For flights I usually check amadeus.net.

A guidebook (or two) from the library will be your best friend. And, of course, google search (including Fodors, Lonely Planet, and other travel websites).
