Italy/France 2006
My husband and I are planning a 3-4(+) week trip to France & Italy in summer 2006 (hey, I like to plan way ahead). How does this itinerary sound:
Fly into Paris (3 days) Train to Provence (car rental 5-7 days) Train to Venice (2-3 days) Train to Florence (4-5 days) Train to Rome (5 days) Train to the Amalfi Coast (4 days) Train to my parents in Campodimele, Italy (bet you haven’t heard of this place!) (7-10 days). Fly back to Toronto from Rome. 2 years ago we did Milan (1 day), Cinque Terre (4 days), Tuscany, including day trips to Florence and San Gimignano (1 week), Rome (4 days) and my parents (2 weeks), so we’d like to see another part of Italy this time around. Thanks! |
Your trip looks great!
I might have chosen Umbria or southern Tuscany in place of Florence, but your plan looks fantastic. |
I can't advise on Italy, as I haven't been there yet (going in Sept), but I would leave Provence at the 5 days and take those 2 extra days and add them to Paris!

Too much time in Florence unless you are planning on several day trips or you are really, really, really into Renaissance art.

Looks terrific to me. But, I agree that is too much time in Florence relative to venice and the Amalfi coast.
