If you had a limited time in Italy, where would you go other than Rome and Venice?

tuscanlifeedit Nov 10th, 2008 02:25 PM

That is a really big question, and there are as many answers as there are people.

Have you been to Italy before?

Do you have plane tickets?

What time of year?

How long will you be gone?

What about Italy interests you?

DalaiLlama Nov 10th, 2008 02:31 PM

Verona, Padova, Ravenna, Urbino, Perugia, Orvieto, Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Le Cinque Terre, to name just a few...

When you say limited time, how many nights do you have in Italy, and how many are you planning to spend in Venice and Rome?

hpeabody Nov 10th, 2008 03:26 PM

It may depend on the time of year (weather conditions) But, I would consider Cinque Terre.

The Amalfi Coast and the Dolomites.

I to agree how many nights I would choose Venice, having spent 5 nights there and taking it all in. Friends have stayed one or 2 and did not like it as much. Then they go back and immerse themselves in the culture, getting lost etc and loved it!! My favorite!

In my opinion, I would leave Pisa off the list.

Hi

I guess it depends on what time of the year you go as well...and what intrests you. My wife and I had a great trip to Florence and Tuscany last year. It was filled with sightseeing, good food, good wine, beautiful landscape etc. Maybe you can find some useful info in my trip report with pictures and links on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/florence_italy_travelogue.htm . Get in touch if you have any questions :d

To Gard,
I've read your travelogues before my trips to Paris and London, and now I'm planning a trip to Rome and Florence, and again found your travelogues. Despite all the books and websurfing I've done, I always enjoy and learn something new from your trip reports...and I love the maps!
thanks again - even though you didn't know you were helping me once again.
