Italy driving question

We will visit relatives in Guilianova, Italy. So we are renting a car for those days. After that, we go to Sorrento. So I figured i'd drive that instead of taking the train.
My question is: Is any of that drive a "white knuckle" drive, meaning high on mountains/cliffs with no barrier where one wrong turn and you're off the mountain. I can't drive on a road like that and want to ensure i won't have any of that.
If the direct approach has that, is there a longer route which would avoid that?
Thanks.

You can use mappy.com or via michelin for driving routes. Looks like you can take the autostrada.
