Italy dreaming

I'm playing a little game as it's cold, I'm ill and in work, got a headache and sore foot and I'm broke - not happy! :-( Anyone want to join in?

If you could click your fingers and be anywhere in Italy today, right now, where would you be and what would you be doing?

I'd be at Ficocella beach at Palinuro in the Cilento, no need to be wrapped up too warm as it's 17 degrees, but I'd still have a jumper and scarf in case there's a breeze coming in off the sea. It smells of salt and there's plies of dark, soft seaweed at the shoreline. The sea is deep azure and turquoise in thick bands, due to sandbanks, and the waves are a bit more forceful than they were in the summer, falling at the shoreline with small crashes. I've got a hot chocolate and my book, and I curl up on a stray sun-lounger next to the closed-up summer beach hut and read, but the salty, slightly misty sea air and the small crashing of the waves lulls me and so I just set the book and the cup down in the sand, pull my hands inside the sleeves of my jumper and close my eyes, letting the ancient rhythms of this coast soothe me...

Hi Lamorna!

Your post is a great idea! And I think you wrote what you dream in a beautiful way.

I will be much simpler, it will suffice being at Florian, in San Marco, sipping Aperol Spritz and hearing the orchestra.

Just came back to home in France after 10 days in Italy - Lago Maggiore, Bergamo, and Milano. It wasn't paradise or the stuff of dreams. The weather sucked, but the food was outstanding, the language beautiful, and the people endearing. I'm having an Aperol Spritz right now before a roaring fire and savoring mixed memories of a short trip to a nearby but different culture.

Lamorna,

Could you please explain to this Yankee what a jumper is? I know it is not the same garment we call a jumper.

StCirq Nov 14th, 2017 09:58 AM

A jumper is a sweater.

In Italy I'd go back to Sermione.

But right now I am at Iguazu. Back from an excursion on Argentinian side. Half daydreaming waiting for a cocktail before jumping in the pool.
Pool is above 25c and air is above 35c.
So i don't need to dream today folks.
And I'll only be broke when the bills from the credit cards fall. :-)
Happy.

In November, I would find someplace to cuddle up in Perugia, where the truffles are in season. Maybe take a cooking class.

I would want to do some day trips to Assisi and maybe Spoleto, and then spend a few days at the Fonteverde Spa and Thermae. We ARE dreaming here...
