Italy; Cilento Park: where is this place?

Hi

The Cilento Park page I keep visiting has this photo on the homepage:

But I can't figure which town on the Cilento coast this is. Does anyone know?

And if not, has anyone stayed on the Cilento Coast and have a rec?

Hi tuscanlifeedit,

I'll go out on a limb and guess that this is Capo Palinuro, with the small town of Palinuro nestled along the coast. Looks beautiful. Tried to hike some of this coast in 2004 but ran out of time at Maratea. Now I may have to go back...

Thanks, JQR. I'll google Capo Paulinaro and see what I can find. That website I listed is just ok; it doesn't map the individual towns and there isn't a way for someone like me, totally unfamiliar with the area, to figure out what's what.

I see you where in Maratea. We are going in to Basilicata. Can you share any impressions?

A good example of my total ignorance on this area: see my spelling of Capo Palinuro. Oh blush!

If you click on the word "Cilento" at the bottom of the site you attached it provides more info about it. DOn't know if it's the right detial you're looking for:

Green heart of Campania – the Cilento
About 100 km south of Naples, in the heart of Campania, starts a region mainly unknown in countries outside of Italy – the Cilento. Since the 1990ies, the Cilento is the second largest national park in Italy and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage of Mankind. It is situated in the province of Salerno (Campania region) – south of the world-famous Amalfi coast, north of the amazing Costa di Maratea – between Paestum to the north, the Monti Alburni to the east and Sapri to the south.

Yes, thanks. I was trying to identify the town in the picture. I'm also looking for a recommendation for a place to stay on the Cilento Coast. These towns don't seem to be well visited by tourists from English speaking countries. I have read a good deal but can't find any real visitors' comments.

I see this googled link to webcoms for Palinuro with some hotel lisings below,
of course it's night there now so hard to see anything except a string of lights and the edges of some seductive palm trees...
