Italy Asolo

My husband and I will be staying in Asolo for a week before returning to Venice for a few more weeks.. What are the interesting towns in the area that we can visit for day-trips...preferably not longer than 1.5 hrs from Asolo.
Any suggestions welcomed re. Places to visit, restaurants not to miss, walks, etc.
Thanks in advance...

Forgot to add - we will be there 1st week of October so if anyone is aware of special events during that period I would be very happy to hear about them - fairs, concerts, flea markets ....?

You should visit Bassano del Grappa, set on the Brenta River, mountains too. Historic bridge and history.
Vicenza is filled with beautiful architecture. Visit the Palladian mansions in the Veneto.

Bassano del Grappo is close.

There is the Prosecco ring, a circular walk taking in vineyards, not too far away. I haven't done it but stumbled across it when we visited the area. We also wanted to visit Treviso but ran out of time. We stopped very briefly in Cittadella and it looked interesting.

There is also a chess pageant at a nearby town but can't remember the name of the town. You could investigate.

We enjoyed the ceramics museum in Bassano del Grappa. Vicenza, where we stayed, was very nice.

Asolo has it's own website but I guess you know that already.

Thank you.... All notes were most helpful. I think we've missed the theatre/concert season but there seems to be plenty else to keep us busy!

The chess game town is Marostica but they are held in the
summer. It's still a classic little town and close to
Bassano.

We stayed in Cittadella for a week and never ran out of
little towns to explore; the only negative is the heavy
traffic getting to them! Seemed everyone and their dog
travelled non-stop!

looking back on our Asolo visit in 2013 and reading the helpful posts is a pleasure. Our trip was wonderful and although an Italian friend wondered what we'd do in Asolo for an entire week (!) we never ran out of excursions that took us to towns and villages - many recommended by Fodor's compatriots.
Thanks again...
