Italy advise

Choice advise. Would you stay 2 nights in Capri and make Amalfi coast area a day trip or stay in Amalfi oe Positano and amke Capri a day trip. Need advise. Hear Amalfi is hard to get to and expensive any advise

We are doing 4 days in Positano and 2 days in Capri. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice but 1 day on Amalfi coast seems pretty slim while 1 day on Capri would be more sufficient.

Hi cc,

The best way is a night on Capri and a night in one of the AC towns.

However, if you'ld rather avoid packing and unpacking, I suggest stay on the AC and visit Capri for a day.

Do you mean the town of Amalfi or the whole Amalfi Coast?

We just returned from 4 days in Amalfi (town) and had a wonderful time. Day trips to Capri and other locations leave throughout the day. We did find the hotels a little on the high side but we also were expecting that. We took the ferry from Naples and had no problems at all. The ferry ran 10€ and took 1:45. We used http://www.metrodelmare.com/. Once you get to the port in Amalfi you may have to either arrange for a car, get a taxi (another 10€ or so), or take the bus depending on what your hotel suggests.

Be aware that a day trip to Capri will put you on the same time sched. as large numbers of crowds, and there can be delays getting up and back down the funicular to the town itself, not to mention an almighty crunch to do the Blue Grotto. And the ferry schedules can be confusing because there are 3 fery companies (don't even remember any that go between Amalfi and Capri). Also, you may not have the time to go up to Anacapri, which would also be a shame. Wish we could do it again, and if we could, we'd spend at least one night actually on Capri and go against the crowds arriving and departing.
