Italy advice please

Our family of four (daughters 16 and 19) plan to spend a month in northern italy in March. Can anyone recommend a nice but inexpensive rental that's walking distance from a village? We'd like to take side trips to Venice and Florence...and whatever else presents itself. Thanks!

Hello Nan, That will be hard to do from only one location---why not two. I would locate in Veneto for 2 weeks, perhaps near Bassano del Grappa or Verona, and then locate near Siena for the other base location. Prices should be good in March--are you assuming 2 bedrooms and 2 baths? Will you have a rental car? If so, I would fly into Nice to get the best car rates--if you keep it for 18 plus days. There are lots of choices. Location will be the biggest variable. Let me know if you need more help.

Sorry, I meant to mention a web site that can give you some really good pointers. Go to www.slowtrav.com for great info on rental planning. Also, look at their " TRAVEL PLANNING" tab for other good ideas. Good luck !

I can do you one of several houses/cottages in Northern Tuscany above Lucca - Florence not hard.... Venice different matter!(but then you could just go across for a day or 3, by car 4 hours). Email me if interested or have a look on www.mulinodellopera.com

Nan,

I'd rent something close to Bassano. It's lovely, close to Venice and not far from Florence, whereas Lucca is way too far from Venice.

Surlok
