Italy

We are women traveling from Phila. to FLorence, then on to Rome, than to Sorrento and then to Naples. We will take a flight home from Naples.
We would like to book thru European Destinations however, the show that you can get a train from Florence to Rome, however, they do not show if you can obtain a train from Rome to Sorrento. Does anyone know if they have a train that goes from Rome to Sorrento? If so could you provide the name and how much it costs in US dollars?
Thank you so much. Diane

Don't know for sure, but I'm fairly confident you'd have to go to Naples and change.

Here is the website for the train to Napoli
http://www.vesuviana.it/web/en/homepage

and to Roma from there

http://www.trenitalia.com/

I don't personally know of one website where you can look at both.

Hi DK,

>We would like to book thru European Destinations ...

Why? The least expensive tickets will be from the Italian National Rail Co - www.trenitalia.com.

You can't buy Circumvesuviana tickets on line.

The quickest way to Sorrento is a train to Napoli Centrale and a limo to the AC.
The cheapest way is to take the Circumvesuviana from Garibaldi, located in the basement of Centrale.
The most scenic, and the longest, is to take the train to Salerno and (1) the ferry to Sorrento or (2) the ferry to Amalfi and the SITA bus to Sorrento.

Enjoy your visit.

The OP is going to Sorrento.

You take a train from Rome to Naples Centrale station, then walk downstairs in the station and catch the Circumvesuviana commuter train to Sorrento. See the links to Trenitalia (for the Rome to Naples leg) and the Circumvesuviana in vjpb's post.

There's a bus from Sorrento to the Naples airport: www.curreriviaggi.it/inglese/E_index.html. That would be the simplest connection.
