I am going to Venice and will stay there for 4-5 days. I like to know if it is possible to take a one day trip to Siena. Do they have direct or non stop train from Venice to Siena? If I start early in the morning from Vience and need to come back to Venice at same day(late). Is it possible?

I wouldn't bother. As fantastic as Siena is I would use all the time up in Venice. 4 or 5 days is still not long enough for lovely Venice!

It's 4-4.5 hours each way by train, and the last return train is at about 7:00 p.m. (6:00 p.m. on Sundays). The Siena train station is not in the historical center of the town, so you'd have to add time to get to/from the center.

No - it's not a realistic trip as noted above.

When you want to check something like this the easiest way is to go to bahn.de - the German rail site. It;s very easy to use and shows all trains throughout europe - although you can use it to buy tickets only for trains originating in Germany.

It is <i>possible.</i> You can compute for yourself how much time is available in Siena.

The bus from Firenze drops you off in the middle of the town. From Siena train station you would need to take a taxi or another bus to get into the center.

is there a particular reason why you want to go to Siena on this trip?

if there is, then the only realistic way would be to do it as an overnight - which would be a shame when you only have 4-5 days in Venice.

Verona, however, is a realistic day trip from Venice.
