Italian Phone Card

Can anyone recommend a specific phone card to purchase in Italy for calls back to the U.S. Can one be purchased at FCO or is it better to purchase at a news/tobacco shop in Rome.

Hi there, For phone cards to the states, yes just purchase at a news stand and be sure to ask for an interantional card. Very easy & cheap.

Have fun!

There is the so called TIME CARD from TELECOM ITALIA. It is an international card and it can be used everywhere (phone booths, hotel room (rather than paying their MUCH expensive phone calls), private houses etc..). YOu dont have to put it into the phone machines. You first call a number and then you dial the code that is behind the card and then the number you want to call. It comes in cards of 5-10-25 euros. The cost of a call is 4 cents of euro per minute for calls from Italy to the States. You can purchase it whenever you want, the price is always the same. I usually suggest to buy them either at the airport or at Termini Station where there are Telecom shops. But you should also find them at tabacconists or newsagents.
