Italian or French Riveria

Our group will be ending a tour in Munich the first week in June. We'd like to stay an extra week on our own and visit either the Italian or French Riveria. I've been to the Tuscany area in June and the temperature was HOT.

Julie--The entire Mediterranean coast is HOT in June, so I'm not sure it's where you want to go.

Julie, The coastal winds and the water temp have a moderating effect on the extremes. I would suggest either Menton on the Cote d' Azur or Santa Margherita on the Ligurian coast as prime options. However, from Munich why not just drive down thru Bavaria and St. Moritz to fabulous Lake Como. You can drive it in a day and the scenery is spectacular. Stay at Bellagio--you will love it. Holler if you need details

I am not an expert but I preferred the Italian side and would recommend Cinque Terre for a couple of days. I like Bob's suggestion but don't know where else your tour goes.

we just honeymooned in italy. i loved the riviera - we stayed in santa margherita liguria...a great home base for day trips to cinque terra.
we also went up to the lakes and stayed in bellagio - liked it better than the riviera actually.
i've never been to the french riviera so i can't speak on that but the italian is so diverse and interesting.
enjoy

Absolutely better Italian Riviera and CINQUE TERRE, 5 jems choosen by UNESCO as world heritage... Go there and stay in Levanto, a beautyful village (5000 inhabitants) 5 minutes from 5 terre.
If you search for more info take a look at www.cinqueterreonline.com and click on advices...
Ciao and have a good time!
