Excellent advice, BellaLuna!

If you have it, you can always ignore it. If you don't have it, you can't use it. I have several GPS units for myself and DW, and would not consider going to a new place without it. We have the US versions and the EU versions for all of our travels.

Once you have joined the 21st century, the 16th century looks like the middle ages.

Just to clarify things....I am in the 21st century with GPS. And there is no question about being alone...you shoiuld use it. But When we travel we like to enjoy and savor. I don't like to rush or miss interesting things or have incredible experiences. If I were in serious trouble, yes I would use it. But I have never used it yet and we drive all over Italy a couple of times a year. I do take my European cell everywhere.
