Italian National Day- Are the shopping outlets (the Mall) open in Firenze?
Hi everyone,
I'm going to be in Firenze on Italian National Day which is May 2 a Saturday this year. I'm guessing all the stores will be closed that day.
We were planning to do a shopping trip to the Mall but at this point the provider won't tell us if it will run until we pay $45 for the tour & a $33 booking fee!! (bfee isnt refundable i might add!).
Does anyone know the likelihood of the Mall being open? or just shops in general on Italian National Day??

We were in Naples for Italian National Day last year and everything was open, except a church which was closed off to allow a stage to be erected in front of it for an open-air evening concert.
But why waste a day in Italy going to a shopping mall ?

We were in Rome on June 2 last year and the stores were all closed! (I had even posted the question on this board and every said the holiday was not big deal!) The churches and museums were open, but the normal stores were closed. There was a huge parade in Rome for which they spent the entire week building bleachers, etc. Some of the plazas had huge TV screens set up. There was a major military flyover. Contrary to what I had heard, the holiday was a big deal in Rome.
