Italian Cooking Class
 

Hi!
I am looking for a one-week (at most) Italian Cooking class that is being offered in Italy and would like to solicit any recommendation. I would prefer a class that offers reasonably priced accommodation with hands on training in a restaurant. I plan to visit in early autumn of 2016. Would appreciate some leads.

You might have a tough time finding hands-on training in a restaurant, especially if you don't speak Italian. If you are already a restaurant professional, you might try working this one the other way around -- see if you can find people who've done such a course in Italy or been an intern in a restaurant.

Otherwise, a concentration of "restaurant quality" cooking courses, as opposed to ones for tourists, can be found in the Emilia Romagna (around Parma, Modena and Bologna) -- provided you want to learn to cook that regional cuisine. There also seems to be a number of English speakers who open restaurants in Rome or who run agriturismi in Tuscany, some with restaurants on site. Perhaps someone would be willing to have you participate.

There a whole load of amateur training course in Italy. We did a couple of hours of a week long one in Puglia with YLTOUR in Puglia and I'd go back.

In my experience, I did not want ones that "offers reasonably priced accommodation" unless you are talking about an inn in the middle of nowhere.

About 50% of the classes we signed up eventually got cancelled, some a month ahead and some a week ahead. By that time, it was too difficult to make an alternate arrangement. Sometimes we converted the hotel reservation name from the cooking school to our name. But other times, I thought about cancellation possibility and positioned ourselves so that we didn't get stuck in accommodation suitable only for that class.

Look at www.divinacucina.com. Mostly in Chianti and Florence bit does offer trips such as past one to Sicily.
