Istanbul's weather in June

Hi all, I will be arriving in Istanbul on the 7th of June. I know it's summer but how is the weather, especially at night? Will it be cold or cool? (I come from a country with very warm tropical climate all year round so I gladly welcome daytime temperatures of 20+ deg C)

I am planning on buying a nice jacket for nights out in Istanbul but I wanna be sure of the weather first.

I was there in June last year, I did not need a jacket at all. It was HOT!

one word for Istanbul in June: HOT!!

You might want to buy a nice linen shirt to throw over your shoulders instead of a jacket for the evenings, or a wrap scarf. That would be enough.

Be sure to check out the underground cistern for some relief from the heat! It was one of our favorite sights in Istanbul over Easter!

I was there in late June, and I didn't think it was that hot at all. I walked around in a t-shirt and capris and was quite comfy. At night, it cooled down a bit but was still comfortable in the same clothes. To me, hot is Cambodia in the middle of July, when my shirt gets soaked under my backpack.

I just got back from Turkey. Was there from May 23-June 4. I never needed my light coat, I needed a light sweater once in the two weeks I was there. It was unseasonably hot. I mean, really uncomfortably hot. Istanbul at a 100 degrees F was actually a relief to the mediterranean which was well over 100.

It's really wierd, because the weather websites all had Istanbul at 68-75 degrees. Completely wrong.

I would suggest calling one of the fancier hotels in Istanbul before your trip to get the latest on weather. If I were to do the trip again, that's what I would have done.

Also, you should know that Istanbul is really informal as cities go. You dont need to dress up for dinner out. Guys dont need sports jackets, women dont need fancy shoes and the like.

At this time of the year we are experiencing warmer weather than usual.
Asa4; I am happy to hear that you have enjoyed your trip great! One point out of yours;
Depending where you are going in Istanbul, especially ladies if you do not have your fancy shoes you may feel like a hobbit! And want to leave the place ;-) So there is room for everything in Istanbul. I agree the city is very informal.
Happy travelling,
Murat

ok, just got an email from my friend in Istanbul. She says it's cooled down a little bit. Again, for future travellers--call ahead to your hotel (or someone you know in Turkey) to get the latest.
