I drove there a long, long time ago--in the late 60's. It's not far. There's a road that pretty much follows the coastline almost to Bursa. It wasn't complicated. Later on we did have trouble with the car, apparently because the gas was too low-octane for my car.

Numerous bus lines run from Istanbul to Bursa. Bus service in Turkey is cheap, clean and convenient. Most will serve some tea or coffee on the way.

Most bus lines have city offices where you can buy tickets and reserve your seat. Or just go to Bus Terminal( Otogar) and look for the next bus.

Yes, it is a ferry, I used it, but sorry, I do not know its internet site.
It is, if I remember well, a two or three hours pleasant trip.

The site for the ferries from Istanbul (Yenikapi) is:
www.ido.com.tr. The ferry does not go directly from Istanbul to Bursa, however.
