Istanbul hotel in Old City

Getting close to make decisions and according to this site and info i have read I think I would like one of the smaller hotels in Old City area near the Grand Bazaar...Any recent experiences or opinions would really help..We plan on going 12/24-12/30 Thanks

Hi Barry, many years ago we had dinner at the Pera Palace where some friends were staying. We loved this place. So full of history. We instead were staying in a boring 5 stars, ....I imagine it is in the older part of the city....

Pera is indeed the oldest hotel in istanbul used by Orient Express clients but not at the old city, its close to Taksim area.

However Barry, what would be your budget for a hotel ? 40-60 range or 70-100 range ? there are amny choices...

I would like to spend $60-100/DAY and from what i have read that should work even during the holiday season.....I would prefer to be close to the Grand Bazaar. Thanks again for the quick response
