Istanbul hotel-Four Seasons, Yesil Ev
 

We will be spending 4 nights in Istanbul in June. We tried to book 4 Seasons, but their available rooms are over $600, so we booked Yesil Ev instead. But we've heard that the rooms are too small & quite noisy, and we are light sleepers. Any comments/other hotel recommendations are welcome.

We're staying at The Seven Hills Hotel in July. I think it's just across the street from The Four Seasons. The Seven Hills has some deluxe rooms as well as suites that are supposed to be roomy.

I'm staying at the Hotel Uyan in October for 90Euro per night including breakfast and pick up from the airport.

I selected that hotel based on a review here on Fodors from a poster who stayed there and favorable reviews on the Trip Advisor Website. Plus the room rate was in my price range.

If you are a light sleeper you shouldn't stay in Sultanahmet since the "call to prayer" from the Blue Mosque would wake the dead, sweetie darling.

Why not stay in Beyoglu/Taksim instead?

The Yesil Ev has a beautiful garden with fairy lights and a trickle fountain that is absolutely magical. Please have dinner there.

It looks like folks are sending you from the Four Seasons to the local hotel. If you're considering the Four Seasons then you might have some dough to spend. Check out the Ciragan Palace hotel (Kempenski)that has a spectacular view and has been host to American Presidents (don't let that be held against the hotel) and Kings and Prime Ministers. If you're lucky, as my traveling partner was, he was upgraded for free to the actual Palace itself, with a duplex suite. Check out the Caviar Bar for some relatively inexpensive Beluga.

Yes the Ciragan Palace Hotel is exquisite but big bucks to. There is the more moderately priced Sultanahmet Palace - http://www.sultanahmetpalace.com. Great authentic feel to this hotel. I didn't stay there but dropped in a for a drink and found the staff to be quite polite. Sultanahmet is very handy to the toursit sites. When I stayed there I was "shocked" at first with the call to prayer at 5.30 in the morning! But I grew to love it. When it woke me I felt like I was in a surreal state - it was really timeless and it captured the essence of this quarter of Istanbul.

You can get standard double rooms at the Marmara Bodrum, a luxury hotel, for $340 that come with buffet breakfast.
