Istanbul hotel advice
My friend and I will be in Istanbul at the end of December. Can anyone recommend a hotel in Sultanamet? We are looking to spend under $120. We want someplace nice and clean and not shabby. Thanks!

We liked the Hali Hotel, recommended it to our friends who also liked it. The rooms are a little tired, but the price was right, and the service from the desk was good.

I stayed at the Ottoman Hotel Imperial. Its a small place but very nicely decorated and in an excellent location directly facing the Hagia Sofia. The rooms are spotless and the service friendly. The photos of the rooms on their websight are very accurate.

I loved Hotel Empress Zoe. I don't know how much it is now, but I paid $50-$55 in spring 1999. The owner is American, from San Francisco, and gave discounts if one paid in cash, US dollars.
The hotel is a few steps away from the Four Seasons Hotel. You can see the FS wall from the breakfast room window of the Empress Zoe. So, the location is absolute tops. Happy Travels! |
We stayed at the Hotel President 8 yrs. ago. It was an American style hotel, with clean basic rooms with bath. There were doormen, elevators, great breakfasts included, a roof top pool, which you won't need! It was right across from the Grand bazaar and up the hill from a great neighborhood full of sidewalk cafes on the water, whose name escapes me right now. The best part was it was very reasonable, about $70.00 per night then!
