Istanbul, day trip? hotels?

OUr family of 4 with two kids (10 and 12) are going to Istanbul for Easter week. We need recommendations for a reasonable hotel in Istanbul that all 4 of us can stay in one room. Also, we want to take 2 different day trips. Which two other places would everyone visit, Pammukale etc??? What tour company would you recommend to use to get to Pammukale etc?
Thanks!

For a day trip I would recommend the Bosphorus ferry trip that goes all the way up to the Black Sea. You can search on fodors for my trip report of Istanbul which describes our visit including the Bosphorus trip. It also has a link to pictures.

We stayed in the Galata Residence - it is a great location (but hilly) in Galata. They have apartments and we had a two bedroom. The second bedroom had twin beds. They have a living room and kitchen. The staff are wonderful. It's not fancy but certainly charming and they did not quote the price in Euros - which most hotels do. It is an easy walk to the bridge and the old part of the city. We love to walk. It is close to a grocery store and a few markets. The Galata area is great. The Turkish people are so warm and the food & sites are awesome. We just did a day trip to the European side of Istanbul. You can search for my trip report: risab istanbul - it should come up. It was quite a popular report.
