Istanbul Accomodations
 

My husband and I are thinking of going to Istanbul in April or May of this year. We found a deal at A'jia Hotel and wanted to find out if anyone has stayed there. It looks great, but it looks like you have to take a boat to all of the sites. Is this correct? We're mostly interested in seeing all of the historic sites and eating great local food. Not too interested in night life. If you don't recommend A'jia Hotel, please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

The website states that the hotel is 30 minutes from the old city. Most of the tourist sites are in the old city. I would advise against staying at A'jia as lovely as it is. Choose a hotel in Sultanahmet or Beyoglu. Maybe a suite at the Seven Hills Hotel -http://www.sevenhillshotel.com - is suitable. The hotel has a roof top restaurant with breathtaking views.

We stayed at the Hali Hotel whose upstairs dining room overlooks the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.

We stayed at the Megara Boutique Hotel in November. It was reasonable (60-80 euros) and close to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia and Tokapi Palace. Additionally the area has many good restaurants. They also have the Megara Palace Hotel which is a little more upscale and in the same area.

When my husband I were in Istanbul we stayed at Hotel Dersaadet.It had a lovely roof top place to eat that had a view of The Blue Mosque. Our room had a view of the Marmara Sea. It was originally a 19th century Ottoman house. Close to everything. If you stay a certain # of nights they will pick you up at airport.web site www.dersaadethotel.com

Any ideas (other than weather.com) what the weather might be like in mid-late April? (Istanbul)

Ajia can not be compared with the recommended ones as for the class and also location.

If you are fine with a ferry ride or hotels own shuttle service crossing Europe for sites to visit you are looking at an old Ottoman mansion with 19 rooms and with one of the most inn restaurants of Istanbul. Ajia's location and view is superb so is their service.
