Ist Trip Abroad

Can anyone suggest a good, reasonably priced ($50-80) per night hotel or B&B in London. This is my first trip to Europe and I'd like not to break the bank. I plan on going in May or June. I want to see London, Paris, Dublin and perhaps, Rome. I'm planning a trip of about 2-3 weeks and will be traveling alone. I'd appreciate any other suggestions or ideas on cheap lodgings, restaurants, etc.
Thanks.

I doubt if anybody can make such a recommendation -- not for a single room.

If you want or need to operate at that budget level, I suggest that you think hostel rather than hotel. You are targeting some expensive cities.

Dublin has plenty of hostels, and not all of them are good. Kinlay House is one of the better ones. See http://www.kinlaydublin.ie/

That rate will be hard to find in London - maybe a hostel. Why don't you try some of the booking engines and see what you find or even priceline and name your own.

I have read about easyhotel in some travel magazines, and its pretty cheap. Or you may have luck with a dorm in a hostel.

Have a look at biddingfortravel for advice on bidding on Priceline. A lot of people use Priceline successfully for London and Dublin, less so for Paris and Rome.

Try this site for a cheap London hotel:

This is my favorite budget option in Paris. It is at the upper end of your price range (you won't really find much that's decent for less in Paris), and wonderful. It's also in a fantastic neighborhood.

I agree, that you may need to think about hostels. First off, translate your USD into pounds and euro to get the real $ figure you will be working with.

Use Priceline. That is the only way you could get a room for that in a decent place.

You will not get a London hotel for $50, and $80 will be really tough -- UNLESS you use Priceline.

Instead of a shared room/shared bath hostel for $50-$70 or so (about £25-£35) - you can get a 4 star hotel in central London for between about $70-$75 and $100)

I just paid $72 for a Hilton on PL. (When budget is an issue, I'd never stay in a hostel or 1 star hotel when I can get a comfortable full service hotel for about the same amount)

Hi L,

In Paris, the Picpus is in your price range.

It is not central, but is close to Metro stops.

I would kindly suggest going to less places, and perhaps even shortening the trip, so you have a more reasonable budget for your hotel nightly.

Unless you are willing to use dorm beds in hostels at least some of the times.
