ISO Paris street name

I am having a memory lapse today. What is the street, pretty sure it is off the Champs-Elysees, where all the high-end designer clothing shops are located? I am trying to suss out a restaurant that was at the Seine end of that street, the name of which I can't remember. I thought at first it might be av Montaigne, but pagesjaunes.fr only shows addresses ending about half way down that street, and the place I am thinking of was at the very end of the street.

This restaurant had a beautiful, chic dining room but had just as many tables outside, and as we dined, we were able to gaze upon the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the distance. Food was fabulous, incredibly reasonably priced; service was great and atmosphere quiet and relaxing and yet I didn't make note of the name or address. How stupid!

Can someone offer some street names?

Ahh! You need to plan a trip to Paris to retrace your steps!

Does Honore meet up with the champs?
Pretty chi-chi shopping along there.

Hi, Crepes!
Avenue Foch?

crepes_a_go_go May 31st, 2007 08:43 AM

Hey grandmere - long time! I'll check Foch. It may very well be Montaigne, but pagesjaunes won't let me see the end of the street. Grrr!

You may be thinking of either avenue Marceau (YSL, Lolita Lempicka, etc.) or avenue George V (Balenciaga, Givenchy...), which converge at Pont de l'Alma, with restaurants and great Eiffel Tower view.

I think most streets in that area have a lot of expensive shops on them, that's kind of what's there.

I would guess ave Montaigne (which has Chanel) or rue Francois 1er (which has Cartier) if it is a street that goes to the Seine, or pretty much. There are really only a couuple streets that do that.

Just checked my Paris par Arrondissement and see that ave Montaigne indeed also starts at Place de l'Alma. Restaurant could be Chez Francis?

Travelnut May 31st, 2007 09:54 AM

Chez Francis always comes up when someone asks for a restaurant with a view of the Eiffel.

Chez Francis could well be the one and that is definitely the area. The photo on pagesjaunes.fr looks like the restaurant except that when I was there 2 years ago, the outside tables were not set up sidewalk style but rather were set up restaurant style, all 4 tops with white table cloths.

I will check it out in person in a couple of weeks, and if this is not it, I will search it out on foot! Just hoping to find it in advance to get the number for making reservations in advance.
