ISO Heathrow Airport Shuttle recommendation

Arriving LHR at 9.25 on 24 December and looking for a shuttle into the city to an flat near Elephant & Castle tube stop. I usually take Heathrow Express or Connect when I'm staying at a hotel near its terminus, but on this super busy day of the year, I'm not schlepping bags and fighting crowds. Plus I'm unfamiliar with the neighborhood where I'm headed so need door to door pick up and drop off.

What service have you used and can recommend? Thanks in advance.

If you find a crowd on the London tube - or anywhere else in central London - on Sunday (note: Sunday) December 24, there's an entry in the Guinness Book of Records awaiting you. Heathrow, though, is a whole nuther story.

You'll get from Heathrow railway station to Elephant underground, via an empty train and an empty Bakerloo connecting tube, faster than your cab driver will be able to fight you through the Heathrow mayhem to his parking spot.

thanks mztery and avalon. Yes, the 24th is a Monday which is why I figured the work "crowds" would be an understatement.

likelihood is that most offices will have shut on the friday before and the shops will be shutting at lunchtime.

I wouldn't have thought there would be much problem with crowds

1) Whilst it's a Monday many people will have taken the day of to have a long weekend
2) You'd be travelling outside the peak travel times
3) You'd be boarding the Tube when it's empty so all you do is sit there with your luggage whilst the rest of the world goes around you.
4) Anyone around will be heading for the main shopping areas

My biggest worry on that day will be finding a supermarket with food in it - for some reason British people panic when the shops are closed for a day and so stock up with enough food to outlast the Apocalypse and so by midday pickings can be slim.

No need for alarm. I used to work there, and some of the streets around there are very sought after. Some very nice early Victorian terraces and squares, some swish modern developments. I'm guessing this is in one of the new developments up Southwark Bridge Road and around Great Suffolk St. I seem to remember an earlier thread from someone who'd rented around there.
