Ischia or Capri?
I'm considering both. Can anyone tell me which they liked better and why? Does one have more to do/see than the other? Are there beaches/boat rentals on both?
Is April beach weather or should we wait until May? |
I haven't there yet (I'm going in July), but check out these websites:

I have actually been to Capri and am curious how anyone who has been to both compares it to Ischia? Now we're looking at mid-May....is THAT beach weather on the island? Will the islands be totally quiet? I'd like some life. Thanks for any advice! |
I've spend three nights on Capri and 5 nights on Ischia. They are different.
Capri is more upscale -- fine dining elegant hotels, classy shops. Ischia is more casual and laid back. Ischia is much bigger with more towns and variety in places. I'm not a beach person, so can't particularly comment there. Please don't ask me which I like better. It's like asking if I'd rather have a steak or a lamb shank. I like them both, but they really aren't alike. |
Neopolitan--thanks for the descriptions. Do you think one is quieter than the other? I don't want to feel isolated on Ischia. I just want to make sure there's some "life" to it.

Other than the main center of Capri, I'd say it's probably quieter as an island than Ischia. There are a number of "night spots" in most of the towns on Ischia. I'm not talking New York here, but a little life.

Perfect--thank you:)

Oh and while on Ischia, be sure to take a boat over to nearby Procida. It is wonderfully "real" and almost totally devoid of tourist spots. Rub elbows with real fishermen, and walk through the ancient streets of real residents. We took a boat from Ischia to the far side of the island and then walked over the hill to the middle of the side that faces Ischia where we had a wonderful lunch on a hillside terrace, explored the fortress at the top of the hill, then walked back down for a boat back to Ischia.

Thanks so much for the advice. That sounds like amazing!
