is zell am see very crowded in september?

i was reading some posts that mention how super-crowded zell am see is in august. is it appreciably less so in september? i saw how beautiful it is so i figured we'd stay there 2-3 nights. maybe we are better-off staying in berchtesgaden or salzburg and visitng on a day-trip.

It will be much less crowded once summer school breaks of most German states have ended.
Which will be by end of August. That last one to go back to school is Bavaria where breaks end Sept. 12.
That is more or less the watershed from high-season to shoulder season.

I understand that! It's always difficult choosing one place or another. Know that either way, you can't go wrong. Both are well worth visiting.
