Is week before Easter a Bad Time

to plan our own "fly and drive" vacation in Ireland? Wife is school librarian and has Mar31-Apr8 as spring break. I'm concerned that
1)many B&B's and attractions may be closed
2)it may be crowded and difficult to rent a car and find accomodations.
Summer is the other option, but we don't like crowds, and we have a limited budget. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks, MadBax

I've never been there on that week, but my understanding is that your only serious issue will be Good Friday. Most restaurants and pubs will be closed that day but the scenery is always open. You might want to choose to stay at a hotel that night. Their restaurant would be open. I think there are quite a few B&Bs open that day.

Since you'll be flying out on Sunday, you should be fine. Ireland celebrates Easter Monday.

If that is the time that best your schedule, travel style, and budget, go. Like the previous poster stated, it is nothing that good planning can not overcome.

MadBax, I arrived Good Friday one year and had heeded suggestions from this forum and booked rooms in a hotel so we could have our meals. The other thing I noticed, families were traveling. I love watching children so I sat in the lobby watching them.

Your worries 1) and 2) are totally contradictory, do you realise that? Meaning that you are just in a bit of a tizzy in general, so calm down.

You'll be absolutely fine.

I've only been 4 times & only to Dublin & Wexford, - but I don't think Ireland is ever crowded, is it ? Unless you go to one of the big fairs.
