IS TORREMOLINOS, SPAIN AS BAD AS THE GUIDE BOOKS SAY?

My husband and I are landing in Malaga in May at 7:30 PM after a 13 hour flight. It will be too late to travel for that night. Should we stay in Malaga or Torremollinos? They seem equi-distant from the airport. I keep reading that Torremollinos is over-developed and the hotels aren't nice. Are there any other spots within a cab ride from the airport that are better?

Malaga is by far the better choice - as you've heard, Torremolinos is just a tourist high-rise beach town. Malaga has a charming old section, and is real Spain. Marbella is also not too far from the airport and would be great to stay for a few days. I think I'd head there rather than spend just 1 night in Malaga.

Is there any place nice to stay on the Costa del Sol that is closer to Malaga than Mirabella. Isn't Mirabella to far to go by cab from the airport?
