Is this too much for 7 days in Ireland?
 

Arriving Dublin at 8:40 a.m., plan on doing hop on/hop off tour that day and touring the next. Possibly doing the literary pub tour the second night. Would like to leave early the 3rd day, going to Bunratty Castly and Cliffs of Mohr and spending the night in Galway. Would like to spend night 4 in Dingle, Night 5 between Dingle and Dublin, and Night 6 in Dublin for an early flight out on the next day. Is this too much? should we skip Galway? Travelling with my husband and 2 twenty something daughters. We are quite energetic, but don't want to kill ourselves.

First, you really don't have 7 days since you are leaving early in the morning on the 7th day and will only see the airport. Basically you have 6 days. On your first day you may be wiped out with jet lag but it could be that adrenalin will take over and you will be okay for sightseeing. Play that by ear.

Have you run your trip through a distance calculator? It might awaken you to the realities of how long it takes to get around Ireland. Try http://www.aaroadwatch.ie/routes/ Take the mileage and divide by 35 to get the actual time involved in driving. The time on the calculator will most likely be wrong.

To me it is a killing pace where you won't see much but will do much driving. If you wanted to see the west of Ireland you would have been better off to either arrive or depart in Shannon. If I were doing it I would just stay near the east coast for a saner trip. But that is only my opinion. Others will have theirs.

Can you fly INTO Dublin and OUT of Shannon?
Otherwise, consider driving from Dublin to Galway ( a shorter, faster, better, and more direct road). You can "pick up" the Cliffs, enroute to Dingle, using the Killimer to Tarbert Ferry to cut driving time / distance.
Then, spend your last night in Bunratty.
If you need to return to Dublin, drive from Dingle through Adare (with a slight detour to Bunratty) and then spend Night 5 in either Cahir, or Cashel.

We flew into Dublin and out of Shannon. I agree that if you could do the reverse, that would save doubling back. ((*))

..just too much! I real "bus tour" itinerary. Even if you fly out of Shannon it is a lot!! doable but ? enjoyable.

Not very doable - you need to factor in that a lot of places in the W/SW you will be <b>lucky</b> to average 35 mph.

If you're not locked into driving, you may consider a PaddyWagon 6-day tour. They leave from Dublin and return to Dublin. Sounds ust right for your plans http://www.Paddywagontours.com

You would need the help of lots of Guinness to do that tour!
