Is this enough time for museums?
 

I just made an 11:00 reservation for the Accadamia in Florence and then the Uffizi for 2:00 on the same day. Is this enough time in between to see both and possibly to grab a light lunch if needed before heading for the Uffizi? We are not staying in Florence so I am allowing for time in the morning to get into the city.

I think it will be enough time if you don't linger too long at the Accademia, and keep lunch quick. It is about a 15-minute walk if you really trot.

the academia is not a large gallery. Although doing both the uffizi and academia on the same day is quite a lot. I guess it depends on how thoroughly you visit a gallery. i like to take a leisurely stroll and keep it relaxing so as a rule, i try and keep galleries to one a day....or else i start to glaze over after a few hours...

Hint: if you want an audio guide, especially for the uffizi, you'll need some form of identification to hand over ie drivers licence etc.

No problem with that schedule at all. In fact, our reservations were identical last September. The Accademia is not all that large, meaning that you can certainly "do it" in an hour (or less if you're focused on seeing David). Not enough time for a lengthy lunch, but we had a very nice lunch at Trattoria ZaZa (Mercato Centrale) and still made it to the Uffizi for our 2:00 reservations.

I agree,you will not spend a lot of time at the Accademia,although you will always remember it! Save plenty of time and energy for the Ufizzi,as it is large and loaded!My favorite place to stop for a snack or light lunch is just one or two streets north of Piazza Signorella near the Ufizzi. Very handsome men will sell you a glass of wine and a delicious small sandwich for a few euro.(It has the name Fratelli-the brothers-in it)

Oh good, I was a bit worried about the timing. The reason why we are seeing both in one day is because we don't plan on staying in the city of Florence but about half hour outside and only have about two full days to work with. Unfortunately we are arriving on a Sunday, Monday the museum is closed so that only leaves us with Tuesday since we will be headed to Venice by train on Wednesday.

I DO NOT want to miss seeing David or the Uffizi so I'm hoping we won't be totally drained out and will enjoy the Uffizi by the time we get there.

Oh, and thank you for the restaurant recommendations for lunch. We will keep it quick that day and I wouldn't mind handsome men selling me a glass of wine and a sandwich. Sounds perfect! :)

I guess a glass of wine and a panini are good. We had Beef Florentine at Trattoria ZaZa after a nice antipasti and a bottle of wine. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. :)
