Is this apt. central / practical for a tourist?

We have never been to Berlin and we are thinking of renting this apt. Please comment on the location. THANK YOU!

Only 5 minutes walk and you are in front of the TV tower in Alexanderplatz, the Rotes Rathaus, the Hackescher Markt Hackescher courts, the State Opera, the Gendarmenmarkt, Konzerthaus and the Prince's palace. 10 minutes walk and you are at the Friedrichstrasse, Checkpoint Charlie, the Hotel Adlon, the Deutsches Theater, the Brandenburg Gate, the Jewish Synagogue, the creative arts center of Prenzlauer Berg, the Komische Oper, the German Reichstag. Approx. It is 15 minutes walk from Potsdamer Platz, the Victory Column, Tiergarten and the main railway station. By S-Bahn is only 10 minutes to the Zoo station of the former center of West Berlin with the Berlin Zoo and the Memorial Church. Right side of Berliner DOM. Domaquaree

It would be better if you posted a link to the actual listing -- or included the address.

if it's where it says it is, it sounds ideal. Where is the nearest U-Bahn station?

"Domaquaree" is detailed enough for location. See this link:

The Radisson Blu hotel is in the same complex. Ideal. I would make sure it's not facing the noisy "Unter den Linden" street, though.

No link needed - it is on St. Wolfgang Strasse and it is brilliantly located. You could almost throw a rock across the Spree and hit the Berliner Dom from the street entrance of the apartment building.

Hackescher Markt S-Bahn stop is about 2 minutes away. The Pergamon and the other museums on Museum Islnad are probably less all 5 -10 minute strolls away. The 10 minute walks are probably more like 15-25, depending on which site is mentioned, I think, and it is more like 25 to the Brandenburg gate. They are all nice walks down historic streets, or you can take the U & S-Bahn.

Mitte is the place to be in Berlin and this is just about perfect. You probably couldn't stick a pin in a map of Berlin and come up with a better location that is either as central (close), or convenient to all of Berlin's attractions.

If you like the terms of the rental you will be thrilled with the location once you get there and see where you are.

Location is central and has excellent connections to the public transport system. You can explore Berlin-Mitte by walking and the rest of Berlin with the U- and S-Bahn. The building complex is new - jus 11 years old - and should be modern and comfortable.

There are very interesting boat trips along the Spree that take you past the Reichstag etc or you can get the boat right out to Charlottenburg to see the palace or just to get a change of scene. We got a bus there and the boat back.

also there are some nice "neighbourhood" type places on the canals which feed into the Spree including bars on barges etc.
