Is this a silly question about Spain?
 

Hi everyone,
Hope this is not a ridiculous question, but here goes.
We will be visiting Spain in October and as I am reading about things to do while there, I notice there are things mentioned to do after dark. For instance, a carriage ride, a stroll to the Plazas, seeing certain sites etc., but I am wondering as to what time darkness actually falls. Do they stay on the same time all year? Would someone be so kind as to inform me.
Hope this will not be received with sarcasm or incredulity. I was always told no question is a silly question. Hoping you agree with me and will give me the answer I need.

I have been there in April and it doesn't get dark until almost 10PM.In October it depends if it is after or before daylight savings time. They usually move the clocks a week before the U.S.

We were in Spain late Sept/early Oct last year, and I noted it didn't start to get dark until around 9:30 or so. This was true of all the places we visited, which spanned Madrid, Extremadura, Andalucia, and La Mancha.

For early to mid-Oct don't miss the Bienial de Flamenco in Sevilla.

As for darkness: you still have a lot of light in Galicia until mid-October. It's in Spain, longitudinally it should be in the same time zone as Portugal. It's a political / economic thing.

Then you've got the Spanish attitude that keeps things going late into the evening (and nighttime) hours.

Just curious... where is "here"?

Presumably, near the eastern edge of a time zone (if you live in the US) - - Portland, Maine for example has sunset in October from 6:22 pm to 5:38 pm until after Daylight Savings Time terminates, and then it falls back to 4:38 pm - - whereas Louisville (also in the Eastern Time zone) has sunset from 7:27 pm to 6:49 pm until DST ends.
