I stayed in (select) rive gauche last month.
didn't like it.
in the 5th, yes. But still - you have the place de la Sorbonne and not much more around.
Hotel was small, Tv set encastrated in the wall, single glazing (I said it elsewhere, it means potentially more noise and - for me - bad management)
I didn't like the stairs (very very small) nor the lift.
I passed by Atlantic 15 min ago - nice looking. Some café still open (1 30 am). in front of St Lazare.

mrt - why do you feel you need to choose between just these two hotels? There are tons of choices in Paris.
Have a look at this hotel which does have Queen beds and is in a nice neighborhood. Took about 60 seconds to find it on www.hotels.com:

A "double" bed will feel very cramped, if you are used to a "queen". But very often, a "queen" bed in Paris will simply be two twins pushed together and clamped at the legs. There can be an uncomfortable seam down the middle - so a "double" might be more comfortable, if you don't mind sleeping close together. Just so you know what to expect.

Hi
Seeing what you were looking at, let me recommend you 2 hotels in the 5th
Notre dame Rue maître Albert 5e
(was there last month, really nice)
Collège de France (hotel du) 7 rue Thénard 5e
(Less confortable but more charm - imho.)
