Is this a good fare from NY to Iceland
Could somebody tell me if a round trip fare of $855 JFK( NY) to Reykjavik 6/24 and back to JFK from Copenhagen on 7/9 sounds reasonable?
|
Last July I flew from Boston to London on Icelandair, changing flights in Reykjavik. The return was from Copenhagen through Reykjavik to Boston. $620 round trip. I booked on Expedia, which had lower rates than other sites or Icelandair. I don't know whether that was a lucky fare or if it would be similar next summer.

Thanks Nikki. Do you remember when did you buy the ticket? I wonder if it's still too soon.
|
I don't remember exactly when I bought the ticket but it was probably around April. I don't know whether I'd want to wait that long though. Good luck.

You can do much better than that. I just booked an Iceland Air fare for June for $626 (Lucky Fare).

Hartzog,
Did you book in their website? What were your dates? I'm also looking there and for my dates they keep giving me an $845( lucky fares). Is your trip roundtrip KEF? Thanks |
Yes, I booked through the Icelandair website with one of their lucky fares. I booked it on 11/8/04. I actually decided to fly in out of BWI but I was considering JFK and checked those fares as well - it was the same. My travel dates are 6/10 - 6/16/05

I just checked their website again and the fare is still $626. Maybe it has to do with the dates you are traveling. i.e., I'm traveling both days on a weekday? Anyway, you should be able to do better than $845.

I guess its my dates plus the fact that I'm returning to JFK from Copenhagen.
Is yours a roundtrip KEF or does your trip include any other segments? Thanks |
Roundtrip with no other stops.

i don't fully understand your itinerary. is it just a stop-over in iceland? it seems this way from your answer or "round trip" or an open jaw ticket where you get from iceland to copenhagen yourself?
Icelandair routinely does stopovers in iceland at a "normal" competitive price or lower. therefore if this is your itinerary, i think 855 is high. if you have a real open jaw ticket, then i have no idea as it is quite specialised and with the complexity of ticket prices i don't think any normal person is qualified to answer this. |
